The AAID held a briefing with the Mwihoko crash victims’ families and AMREF representatives to update them on the investigation’s progress.

The Aircraft Accident Investigation Department (AAID) held a tripartite meeting with representatives of the African Medical and Research Foundation (AMREF) and the families of the victims of the aircraft accident involving a Cessna Citation 560 XLS aircraft, registration 5Y-FDM, that occurred on 7 August 2025 at Mwihoko in Ruiru Sub County, Kiambu County.

During the meeting, AAID briefed the families of the victims and AMREF representatives on the progress of the investigation. This included the successful download of data from the flight data recorders, as well as the secure recovery and storage of the wreckage, both of which constitute critical elements of the investigative process. AAID further noted that the preliminary report on the accident was issued within the 30-day period, in conformity with the requirements of ICAO Annex 13.

AAID also reminded the meeting of the established investigation timelines and outlined the expected outcomes at each stage of the process. The Department reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining periodic communication with the families of the accident victims and AMREF, and to providing timely updates on any significant developments as the investigation progresses.
