AAID officers participate in a counselling session to support and improve their psychological well-being.

In accordance with the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) principles of personnel well-being, officers of the Aircraft Accident Investigation Department (AAID) participated in a structured counselling session conducted by the State Department for Public Service and Human Capital Development through the Directorate of Counselling and Wellness Support, with the objective of promoting and safeguarding mental well-being. Investigators are routinely exposed to traumatic scenes and high-stress environments that can have psychological impacts.

During the session, AAID officers outlined the operational and psychological challenges associated with the execution of their investigative mandate, particularly the exposure to distressing accident scenes and high-stress working environments. Additional work-related challenges and their potential impact on individual performance, decision-making, and overall productivity were also discussed.

Representatives from the Directorate of Counselling and Wellness Support provided professional guidance on appropriate coping strategies and resilience-building measures to effectively manage the identified stressors. The engagement marked the initiation of a coordinated and continuous support framework, under which AAID officers will receive ongoing counselling and wellness support through regular sessions, in line with ICAO’s emphasis on safety culture, human performance, and organizational resilience.
