Accident Involving Cessna 208B Grand Caravan, Registration 5Y-SXI, at Reteti Airstrip, Samburu County

The Aircraft Accident Investigation Department (AAID) has received notification of an accident involving a Cessna 208B Grand Caravan, registration number 5Y-SXI, which occurred at Reteti Airstrip.

The accident occurred at 1550 hours local time on Thursday, 5th June 2025. The aircraft had landed at Reteti Airstrip from Olkiombo (Mara) and, during takeoff for its next leg to Segera Airstrip, veered off the runway, resulting in substantial damage to the left wing and parts of the fuselage. There were no injuries reported among the nine occupants on board. In accordance with established procedures, a team of investigators from AAID was promptly deployed to the site to initiate a comprehensive investigation into the circumstances surrounding the occurrence.
