The final presentation of the observations on the Civil Aviation (Aircraft Accident and Incident Investigation) Regulation 2024. Legal Notice No.5 of 2025 at the National Assembly, Committee on Delegated Legislation
The Cabinet Secretary Roads and Transport Davis Chirchir, alongside The Principal Secretary for Aviation and Aerospace Development, Ms.Teresia Mbaika and a team of Technocrats from the Aircraft Accident Investigation Department (AAID), met with the National Assembly Committee on Delegated Legislation to review the Civil Aviation (Aircraft Accident and Incident Investigation) Regulations, 2024, Legal No 5 of 2025.
The CS emphasised that the regulations have been reviewed to align the framework of aircraft accident investigations with international best practices and to facilitate the prompt publication of investigation reports as per the Chicago Convention on International Civil Aviation, to which Kenya is a signatory. The Committee agreed with the Ministry that the Regulations will strengthen preventive measures by improving investigation processes and identifying the root causes and contributing factors to prevent the recurrence of accidents and incidents in the Country.
