Incident involving a Cessna 185 Aircraft, Registration 5Y-CHU at Ol Malo Airstrip.

At approximately 10:50 AM local time on the morning of 18 July 2025, a privately operated Cessna 185 aircraft, registration 5Y-CHU, was involved in a runway excursion during the landing phase at Ol Malo Airstrip.

Preliminary information indicates that the aircraft experienced a brake failure on the right landing gear, resulting in the loss of directional control. The aircraft veered off the runway, causing the right wing to bend upward near the tip, the right landing gear to collapse, and damage to the right horizontal stabilizer.

There were three occupants on board, all of whom disembarked safely without injury.

A team from the Aircraft Accident Investigation Department (AAID) was immediately dispatched to the scene and has initiated a formal investigation into the incident.
