Incident involving a Cessna C150 Aircraft, Registration 5Y-CAK at Malindi International Airport.
On the morning of 2nd July 2025 at approximately 0848 hours, a Cessna C150 aircraft, registration 5Y-CAK, operated by Kenya Aeronautical College, was involved in a landing incident at Malindi International Airport.
During the landing phase, the aircraft experienced bounce touchdowns, resulting in a loss of directional control. The aircraft subsequently veered off the runway and overturned next to the runway strip.
The student pilot, who was the sole occupant, sustained minor injuries as a result of the incident. The extent of damage to the aircraft is yet to be fully assessed.
A team of investigators from the Aircraft Accident Investigation Department (AAID) was promptly deployed to the site to commence a formal investigation into the occurrence. The investigation will focus on factors including flight handling, weather conditions, aircraft mechanical condition, and pilot actions.
