Runway Excursion involving Aircraft Registration 5Y-BXI operated by Aircraft Leasing Services

On 20 March 2026 at approximately 8:55 PM local time, the Aircraft Accident Investigation Department (AAID) was notified of a serious incident involving aircraft registration 5Y-BXI, operated by Aircraft Leasing Services, at Wilson Airport.

The aircraft had arrived from Kisumu International Airport when it experienced a runway excursion, veering off the runway and onto the grass section of the airfield near the intersection of Runway 07/14.

All 35 passengers and 4 crew members on board were safely evacuated, and no injuries were reported.

Investigators from the AAID were promptly deployed to the site to begin inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the incident. In accordance with Annex 13 to the Convention on International Civil Aviation, the Transportation Safety Board (TSB) of Canada has been notified as the authority representing the State of Design and Manufacture of the aircraft and its engines.

The AAID will continue to provide updates as the investigation progresses and more information becomes available.
